iSelect is committed to protecting the confidentiality of your personal information. This policy explains the steps we have taken to ensure that we comply with the Privacy Act 1988 and any relevant Health Privacy Principles under State legislation.
For the purposes of this policy, iSelect/we means each of iSelect Pty Ltd, iSelect Life Pty Ltd and iSelect General Pty Ltd, which operate the iSelect Health, Life and General Insurance businesses respectively.

Why do we collect your personal information?
We collect personal information in order to provide services and products to you, ensure we comply with the requirements of our participating insurers and service providers, maintain and improve customer services, meet our legal obligations and advise you of other iSelect products or services which may be of interest to you.
Whilst you may opt not to provide us with your personal information, you should be aware that without this personal information, we may not be able to provide you with the services and/or products you are applying for.
What Personal Information do we Collect?
We collect personal information about you and/or your family, where applicable, when you apply for or purchase a product offered on www.iselect.com.au or when you enquire about or purchase a product or service offered by an iSelect business via our contact centre. Where possible, we will collect personal information directly from you, or from a person authorised by you.
The types of personal information we collect may include:
- identifying and contact information, such as name, date of birth, residential address, email address and contact telephone numbers;
- information about you, your partner/family members (including date of birth, employment (where applicable), claims history and insurance coverage status);
- financial information, such as credit card details;
- where applicable, sensitive information, for example information about the health of prospective insured customers and whether there are any medical conditions and/or family medical history; and
- information about your activities, including but not limited to sporting and other lifestyle interests.
How Might we use or disclose your Personal Information?
We may use or disclose your personal information to: another iSelect business, our participating insurers, professional advisers, service providers, payment systems operators and financial institutions, and organisations authorized by iSelect to conduct promotional, research or marketing activities.
In some circumstances iSelect is entitled to disclose your personal information to third parties without your authorization such as law enforcement agencies or government authorities.
Correction and Access to your information
We aim to ensure that the personal information collected, used or disclosed is accurate, complete and up-to-date. We will take reasonable steps to ensure this occurs. If you believe that your personal information is not accurate, complete or up to date, please contact us by telephone on 03-9276-8000, via email to privacy@iselect.com.au or address your request to the Privacy Officer, 294 Bay Road, Cheltenham, Victoria, 3192.
You will not be charged for accessing your information, although we might have to charge the reasonable cost of processing your request, including photocopying, administration and postage.
Security - Website Usage
Our website is professionally hosted and operates in a secure environment. But you should be aware that there remains inherent risks associated with transmitting information via the Internet. Cookies are pieces of information that a website transfers to your computer for record-keeping purposes. The information collected may be used by iSelect to improve your experience on our website.
In addition, we collect aggregated non-personally identifiable data from our website to help us maintain and improve delivery of the iSelect online service and marketing. This aggregated information assists iSelect to improve content and website navigation.
Like a number of commercial web site operators, iSelect use Omniture to measure and analyse internet usage across our web sites. All pages on our web sites are coded with Omniture tracking. This enables iSelect to track the number of unique browsers to our web sites. This information is collected and aggregated and in no way does this identify a user personally.
